The course is free and starts today. And you can try what you learn on Crazyflie!
Would be great to know if someone is following along ~

Hi!
I took the class room version of that course two years ago and strongly recommend it I learnt a lot, the presentation materials and tasks were top notch. It even won some top lecture award that year.
Enjoy it!

Good to know, thanks!
Two years ago ~ That's before crazyflie. Were you working with AR Drone?

Yeah, the ArDrone 1.0, not the current onepashakun wrote:Good to know, thanks!

The ardrone has two huge advantages over the flie that make it "relatively easy" to start programming with:
- Ultrasonic altitude measurement - so you can easily hover at a given altitude. Ive worked on hover mode on the flie using the barometer. Its far from perfect, maybe youve tried it;)
- Optical flow from a downward facing camera - so you can easily stop drift in the x,y plain.
Re: Anybody taking Autonomous Navigation course @ edx?
More good news~ I have Drone 1.0 and was wondering if I need 2.0 for the course.
Crazyflie is a little bit more manageable in an apartment setting - it doesn't terrify the cats as much But I'll give AR Drone SDK a shot ~
I've stumbled through a bunch of edx courses on robotics and programming, but super determined to finish this one! Been brushing up on linear algebra and such ~
I'll bug you with some questions, if you don't mind.

Looks a fab course. I've started it, and if I can get the kids occupied this summer, I just might finish!

Good luck , Leslie!
There is a lot of practical stuff there. Though I haven't had a chance to try it out on BitFly
