Interesting. That sucker is small. I'm a Crazyflie purist so I'll likely not get one myself but I'll be waiting to read about how it handles. Doesn't look too open though so any hacking will be of the reverse engineering kind... That might be fun. Just out of curiosity, what color did you get? I see they're just shy of unlocking a black one as a stretch goal at $30K... The company is located in Rochester, NY (USA) which is mighty close to where I just moved my family to - not that it matters to you but it's interesting to me.

Re: New nano drone
It is really small. I need to check it out!
Re: New nano drone
Looks great and it's really small.
Re: New nano drone
That already exists no?

Supposedly the guy doing the IndieGoGo campaign has made a "bevy of technical and design improvements over the original CX-10 series quadcopters"Slaxx wrote:That already exists no?

This seems to be merely the addition of landing skids, blade guards, 3 speed settings, improved 6 axis stabilization, better packaging and instruction manual.
I guess that's supposed to be around $19 worth of "innovations."

Well they also have a blade guard and there is also an improved version with 3 speed settings http://www.banggood.com/Cheerson-CX-10A ... 56936.html
Re: New nano drone
So my nano drone just arrived and I must say I am amazed by the performance for $35 or $15 or whatever you can find on the Internet. Regardless, it is way less than the $250+ I have invested in Crazyflie + Playstation 4 controller + parts, etc. And I haven't even started buying my headless Rasberry Pi setup. Not a fair comparison -- I get that Crazyflie is a development environment and that's exactly why I got it.
But I must say, flying the nano drone out of the box is much easier. No computer, tiny simple controller, super stable, better hovering, 3 speeds (sensitivity) so beginner / slowest speed mode is really stable, and pre-programmed flips, which is wicked cool. I thought this would be a junk toy, especially given that it was dirt cheap and only has a 3-axis accelerometer, but must say it's great. For sitting on the couch and just flying, this can't be beat. For development environment, cerebral learning and flying beyond my skill level Crayflie is the way to go.

Re: New nano drone
Thanks for the review CliffH! I was wondering how the quad would perform and it sounds like it's pretty good. How long til you start trying to hack, mod, or upgrade it...?
