Beginner protection ring
Re: Beginner protection ring
no.. but it should not be that difficult
Re: Beginner protection ring
I'll look into it if I can find the time then
Re: Beginner protection ring
I just made a pretty slick bumper cage "Frame" out of guitar strings, It gives it a pretty nice light weight spring like bumper, I have a step by step posted on my site, let me know what you think and also if you have any problems, http://appsoftmedia.com/crazy/
Re: Beginner protection ring
The is a pretty nice find! How does it effect the flight performance?
Re: Beginner protection ring
It s seems to be more stable than without the ring protection, but less stable for translations.
To takeoff, I have to have full power ( at least 85%) otherwise if i genteelly increase the throttle, it seems create vortexes and doesn't take off.
I will try to install feet to make a clearance between the floor and the ring for an efficient takeoff.
Concerning the structure, it's really tough (to hit walls and floor are no longer dangerous) and light (now the overall weight is 23g )
I haven't noticed any degradation of flight time

Re: Beginner protection ring
Next thing would be making a hovercraft mode for it .
Re: Beginner protection ring
Quite a few good ideas here. There should be sticky collecting good ideas and hacks somewhere.
Re: Beginner protection ring
I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but zip ties are the best thing in the world. I made landing gear and prop protection with some. Landing gear only now though. I don't crash as much with a better PID tuning.
One day our flies will drown out the sun in an autonomous Skynet of whirring motors and blinking lights.

There are some great ideas. They might be better placed on the wiki in the "hacks" page...jottr wrote:Quite a few good ideas here. There should be sticky collecting good ideas and hacks somewhere.
