I just made a pretty slick bumper cage "Frame" out of guitar strings, It gives it a pretty nice light weight spring like bumper, I have a step by step posted on my site, let me know what you think and also if you have any problems, http://appsoftmedia.com/crazy/

The is a pretty nice find! How does it effect the flight performance?

It s seems to be more stable than without the ring protection, but less stable for translations.

To takeoff, I have to have full power ( at least 85%) otherwise if i genteelly increase the throttle, it seems create vortexes and doesn't take off.

I will try to install feet to make a clearance between the floor and the ring for an efficient takeoff.

Concerning the structure, it's really tough (to hit walls and floor are no longer dangerous) and light (now the overall weight is 23g )

I haven't noticed any degradation of flight time

Next thing would be making a hovercraft mode for it :-).

I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but zip ties are the best thing in the world. I made landing gear and prop protection with some. Landing gear only now though. I don't crash as much with a better PID tuning.

There are some great ideas. They might be better placed on the wiki in the "hacks" page...
